During the past year, we have had many changes affecting our lives and the future of Keith-Ann Wagner Hope Relay. I can’t wait to share them with you!
After three years in California, Chad and I decided it was time to come home to Texas and start a spinal cord injury rehabilitation center to help other victims in this area. With Austin’s central location, we believed it to be the best place to open Roll 2 Walk, a certified facility of Project Walk. Our doors opened in January at South Congress Athletic Gym in downtown Austin.
Presently, we are serving seven clients, with two trainers, three days a week. I am employed with Glass Company as a CPA, and Chad works as one of the trainer’s at Roll 2 Walk.
Roll 2 Walk is a non-profit organization funded by donations and client fees. To get us started, in the fall, we had a fundraiser in conjunction with Keith-Ann Wagner Hope Relay. When we became a separate organization, the board members of Hope Relay voted to donate the majority of its funds to Roll 2 Walk to assist in the start up costs.
However, Keith-Ann Wagner Hope Relay wants to continue its mission of raising awareness of spinal cord injury and supporting spinal cord injury victims as well as able-bodied athletes. Because of the country’s economic situation, it has been difficult for many of the prospective clients to begin their rehabilitation programs at Roll 2 Walk.
In an effort to help some of these clients, the Keith-Ann Wagner Hope Relay event this year, will be similar to the two previous ones, where you were asked to help Pay for A Day or make a donation in another amount and help others realize there is hope.
Enclosed you will find profiles of two of the prospective clients along with a form for your donation. Please complete the form with your donation and mail to Keith-Ann Wagner Hope Relay, P.O. Box 173582, Arlington, TX 76003. Proceeds will be given to assist clients of Roll 2 Walk as they begin their therapy. Donations are 100% tax deductible. Our tax number is 75-3093740.
